I found my first pr7 blog

I see why they have such a high page rank. They have multiple authors, I think I counted 7. Someone is always available to update the site so they should be updated daily. Which is my second comment, they update the site at least 4 times a day. That keeps people coming back because you never know what you might find ont their site. Lastly, it’s a interesting site that makes you wonder what kind of story they’ll come up with next. It’s sports related so they always have fodder.

Hopefully, I can eventually get this site up to a pr4 or pr5. Right now I have no rank and Google is set to update within the next couple of days. I don’t expect to move at all this time so I have another 3 months to get ready for the next Google dance.

Happy Birthday my MIA friend

Today is my friend LaShonda’s birthday. I never forget it because of the date 07/17. She used to play that on the lottery and everytime someone mentions her name out of the blue, that number comes out.

I haven’t seen her in ages. I saw her about 4 months ago when we were coming home from work but I didn’t get to talk to her. I did email one of our mutual friends and told her to send along my birthday wishes.

Oh well, I tried. Anyway Happy Birthday Shonda!

All sponsored posts all the time

I’ve been reading through some other blogs and the paid posts are outta control. I am not exempting my own blogs from this either. My Sabrina’s Place blog has paid posts as every other post. Once in a while, you’ll get a 2 post break and then another paid post. My other 2 blogs Sabrina’s Money Madness and Insane Random Ramblings (the blogger version) have paid posts but not as many. There might be 2 or 3 posts between every paid post. Ocassionally, there are paid posts seemingly back to back, then my regular posting schedule resumes.

There are a few problems with this. First it makes your blog look spammy. Most of the paid posts use high density keywords to get hits. Secondly, people wonder if they can believe what you say. Do you really like what you’re saying, or is it because the post is sponsored by xyz company.

This blog will have very few paid posts. They will have to be high paying, low word count posts. I don’t expect to find too many of those, so I expect to have very few of those types of posts on this blog.

This is already shaping up to be my favorite blog so I have to nurture it and grow it carefully. I don’t want it looking like a link farm or spam-blog so I will monitor what I post carefully.

Well they did it

Yep, the Phillies lost 10-2. They earn the dubious honor of being the first major league baseball team to lose 10,000 games. The Braves and Cubs are next in line to reach the milestone with 9,681 losses and 9425 losses respectively.

At least we don’t have to hear about it anymore. The best part about it though. The Philly fans. They’re crazy. They had signs and started cheering when there were two outs. How many other teams fans do you think would have held up signs proclaiming “1st to 10,000″, and “I was there”? Gotta love those Philly fans.

I’m tired of hearing about the Phillies making history

Ok, I’ll admit it - I’m biased. I’m originally from Philly and I still root for the Phillies. I also love watching Ryan Howard, Chase Utley, and Aaron Rowand. Heck I like the whole team. So I’m really tired about hearing about their dubious distinction of being the first baseball club to lose 10,000 games. They’re at 9,999 right now. I hope the lose 1 of their games on their upcoming road trip so we can stop hearing about it.

I mean think about it, any team that plays long enough will eventually get to this point. You have a lot of teams that aren’t even 50 years old yet. Of course they’re nowhere near the milestone. Then you have other teams that are over 100 years old like the Yankees or Pirates, but their all-time loss record isn’t nearly as bad. The Phillies have had some horrible years to be sure.

I just hope they don’t lose tonight.

I’m glad that Friday the 13th is over

Let me say that I am superstitious but I think Friday the 13th is the dumbest day to be afraid of. I believe if something bad is going to happen, it’s meant to happen and not just because of the calendar date.

I do have to say that I had a great Friday the 13th. Maybe that’s why I hate when people worry about the date.

Holy cow that’s a lot of posts

I have several blogs that I read on a daily basis. There are also a few that I read at least once a week. Mostly I read the blogs because I love the writing. The majority are personal blogs. There are some finance blogs in there as well.

Today I was reading through one of them and I noticed that I was on page 3 - which was about 30 posts - and the date was only a week old. Are you serious?!?! They’re averaging close to 4 posts per day. Some days I don’t blog at all. I have a few chatty Kathy days where I may post 3 or 4 topics, but not every day. After I get home from work, there are plenty of days where the last thing I want to look at is another computer screen. I also have writers block where I can think of topics but I can’t properly articulate those thoughts.

I guess I need to get moving and up my post game. I feel like the ultimate slacker now.

I’m going through withdrawal

Baseball withdrawal that is. This is the after All-Star break and there are no games scheduled until Friday. There is usually a game on Wednesday night. I was sitting in front of the tv all ready for it and there was something else on.

I know the players need this break, but I can’t wait until Friday.

Vlad wins Home Run Derby

Vlad Guerrero won the Home Run Derby edging out Alex Rios 3-2. I was rooting for Ryan Howard to repeat. He was out in the first round. Oh well, it was still fun to watch.

I’m not gonna worry about site stats

I just need to concentrate on blogging and writing quality content. Why? I’ll just drive myself crazy worrying about stats. For example, my Alexa rankings. They’re going up instead of down and one site totally dropped off of the grid. I don’t even know what to do to get my stats back up. I haven’t lost any visitors to the sites that are affected. My visitor count has stayed stable.

As far as page rank, I’m totally at the mercy of Google. The only thing I can try to do is get incoming links to help me out. Most people are finicky about links because their ranking drop. But with good content will make people read and want to link to me.
