Tomorrow is the final

I’m not looking forward to going home and studying tonight. I know it will be at least 3 hours and that’s the very minimum. I’m sure I’ll spend the better part of 5 hours studying. Then I’ll still study tomorrow just before class. I know she’s going to ask us about some of those hand-outs that we never covered in class. 2 of them are long (at least 9 pages), the other is about 6 pages long.

We have 1 long essay again. We have 5 questions, prepare an answer for 3 and 1 will appear on the final. Her rationale is that you will have 3 of 5 prepared so no matter which questions she picks, you should have at least one answer ready. We also have 4 id-type questions. She will put 8 on each side for a total of 16. Then you pick 1 from each side to compare and contrast. So you will have 4 answers but use 8 id terms.

We have 2 hours and I bet we’ll use most of the time. I have a lot of studying to do tonight.

Work vent

I usually save my work-related rants for my other blog but today I couldn’t resist. I was supposed to be trained to work on this special project. 2 weeks ago one of the other workleaders told my workleader (L.) to train me before she got back from vacation. Last week she went on vacation. On Monday when she came back, she wanted to know why I still wasn’t trained and L. didn’t have an answer for her.

Today L. is all gung-ho ready to train me and another person. She already has the other person all confused because she really doesn’t know the job. I guess after lunch it’s my turn to be confused and frustrated. Ugh September seems so far away.

No more shopping

For a few weeks anyway. My spending has gotten out of control for the last 2 months and I need to bring it back to normal. That means I need to cut spending. That means no clothes, no sneakers and no casino visits (even though we didn’t go this past weekend). I also need to decrease my scratchie ticket consumption because I’m buying way too many of those.

I need to save my money for school. I’m not getting financial aid or loans and it’s going to be difficult coming up with that much cash. I also think I’m going to need a new computer, again. I could look into computer rentals but I would rather own my own computer. Right now, my computer is running very slowly and it locks up and freezes quite often.  I think it’s only going to be a matter of time before it totally conks out on me. I want to be prepared to at least buy a bare bones system to get me by.

Sadly there are no vacation plans for me this year. Maybe next year once I graduate I can think about vacation again. Until then, I’ll just look at brochures and daydream. I don’t think those little weekend trips count as vacation. Our actual vacation is the middle of August but I doubt if we’ll be able to do anything. That really stinks too. I don’t want to spend a whole week just hanging around Pittsburgh.

Maybe we’ll hit the lottery. Hey I said I was cutting down on scratchies, not Powerball. You never know, it could happen.

The Special K diet is calling me

So I keep trying to lose weight and nothing is working. I’ve started exercising and I’ve cut back on junk food. I also cut back on soda - even though you probably can’t tell from My Friday Five post. But I have in recent weeks. The weight still hasn’t come off though, not even a little.

The Special K diet is where you eat 2 bowls of cereal for meals and then a regular meal for dinner. I’ll probably throw some fruit and veggies in there for snacks. I know that won’t be enough food for me. I’ve been reading up on the diet and they really want you to do it something like one day on then one day off after the first week. This way you can maintain it and you’re not starving yourself.

I’ll give it 6 weeks to start working, with exercise involved of course. Then it’s on the the anoretix, slim-quick or whatever else I can find for rapid weight loss. This fat is slowing me down and I can feel my body not responding the way it should be. I’m just not healthy and I want this extra weight gone. Sooner rather than later.

My Friday Five

My 5 five drinks at work:

  1. Diet Pepsi - This is my favorite although it’s very acidic
  2. Diet Coke - Sweet and yummy. It’s usually more expensive than Pepsi products so I don’t buy them buy the case. I will usually have 1 per week.
  3. Diet Pepsi Max - But it’s breaking my face out horribly. I’m going to finish the case that I have and give it a rest for a while.
  4. Water - Yeah it’s like #4 when it should be #1. I usually drink at least 1 bottle of water but I drink way more soda.
  5. Ice Tea - They have these cartons downstairs that are only $.75 so I get them once in a while.

What kind of gamer are you?

Do you play your games straight through to try and beat it? Or are you the type of person that likes to explore the game and look for all of the little details in the game? I notice that John is the latter. He drives me crazy playing his xbox 360 games. But he wants to see the whole game. He’ll say “I wonder what will happen if….”, then he’ll do something crazy like crash the character into a wall or try to kill someone he shouldn’t be.

I’ve noticed other people playing the same games have already finished the entire game. One person told me it was because he did all of the activities (missions). He didn’t do any extra, what he called, dilly-dallying around. He preferred it that way so he could get on to the next game.

Which type of gamer are you? Do you explore the games slowly or do you beat it and then you’re done?

Joke of the week

Needles Are Not Nice…

Bill and Bob, two children, were sitting outside a clinic. Bill happened to be crying very loudly.

“Why are you crying?” Bob asked.

“I came here for a blood test,” sobbed Bill.

“So? Are you afraid?”

“No. For the blood test, they cut my finger.

As Bob heard this, he immediately began crying profusely.

Astonished, Bill stopped his tears and asked Bob, “Why are you crying now?”

To which Bob replied, “I came for a urine test!”

I am such an airhead!

Yesterday I had to mail one of my bills. It was on a schedule payment from my bank account but I decided to pay it from a different account. Anyway the bill isn’t due until the 21st so it wasn’t late or anything. I made sure I grabbed the letter to mail when I went downstairs to go to the Post Office to check my mail. We have a mail receptacle in our building where mail is picked up twice a day. My letter would be picked up at 5pm.

Like I said, my bill isn’t due for another 10 days. So why am I an airhead? Because I went to the post office. I could have taken the letter with me and mailed it there! I didn’t even think about it until after I dropped the letters in the box. Talk about a duh moment!

Reading for school

I catch the bus every day to go to work and twice a week to go to school. Usually I listen to my IPOD to keep me busy. Some mornings I just sit there and “zone out”. I just stare into space trying to get ready for the day. In the afternoons, I’ll read the paper or take a short nap before school.

I thought about it yesterday afternoon and realized that I’m wasting valuable time. I’ve decided that I’m going to start reading my books for school on the ride. This morning I started the book that I have to read for my quiz on Thursday. I got through the entire first chapter, which was pretty long, before I got to work. I could have started the 2nd chapter but I decided to read entire chapters at one time and not stop in the middle.

I might as well be productive with my time. Who am I kidding? I just want to be able to watch more tv and play on the computer when I get home instead of doing school-work every night. Hey whatever works right?

I must have a friendly face

I always have people talking to me. I never noticed it until my friend brought it to my attention one day. She said “You’ll talk to anybody”. I just laughed and then I thought about it. I do talk to a lot of people. I can go anywhere and talk to anybody. It doesn’t even matter what we talk about either. It can be sports, generic Phentermine, school or anything that you can imagine.

Take today for instance. I went to the Sprint store with my coworker because her phone is acting up. As I’m standing there waiting for her, one of the other customers in the store started talking to us about her phone. My coworker walked away and the lady continued to talk to me. The conversation morphed from phones to her work place her old job and her new job. In addition to some tidbits about her family. All of this took place in the span of less than 10 minutes.

I do love to talk though. Maybe that’s why I enjoy blogging so much. I can say as much as I want to.
