Lazy days

I haven’t done anything for the past 3 days that I’ve been home. I watched some tv, listened to the radio and got my clothes ready for the week for work. There was so much more that I could have done.

I didn’t clean like I really wanted to or wash clothes. I don’t want to wash clothes during the week but I’ll have to. I have enough clothes for this week but not next week when I start school. Time will be scarce then so I need to get into gear and do things now.

I also need to pay some bills. I haven’t paid my phone bill, my car insurance or my school bill. I have to pay school today so I don’t pay a late payment.

I really don’t want to go back to work tomorrow.

I’m already planning my next vacation

I really wanted to go out of the country. Somewhere like Mexico or Costa Rica. My vacation is a present for myself for finally graduating school. That means the trip won’t happen until at least May of next year because I won’t graduate until the end of April.  I already know I won’t have any extra money until then.

I seriously doubt that I’ll be able to afford something expensive though. I really love cruises so that may be a option. The only bad thing is that I’m probably going to go by myself. I’m tired of not being able to go places because nobody wants to go or they back out at the last minute. So I’ll have to pay the single supplement which is usually double.

I’m pretty open to places to go though. But I know now is the time to start planning.

My Friday Five

Just a few things I saw that during vacation that I thought were either funny or interesting.

  1. Captain Victoria Secret. Hehehe. That’s what I named him anyway. He was walking around the airport holding a VS bag. It was cute, sexy and funny all at the same time.
  2. There were a lot of babies flying. Way more than usual. I don’t know if it’s because everyone is on vacation or what. There were at least 3 children under 2 on every flight I was on.
  3. I need more sandals and shoes. I only took sneakers which was fine most days. But my last outfit would have looked better with sandals or even flip flops.
  4. I ate so much during my time off. I really need to get back into my workout routine. I feel like I gained 5 pounds already.
  5. I need to take more money. There were so many things that I wanted to buy but I didn’t have enough cash. This was a short unexpected trip though so it’s no surprise that my money was low.

I hope to be able to take more short trips like this in the future. It was short but fun and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Comedian Bernie Mac dead at age 50

Wow this is definitely a shocker. I just wrote a post a month ago about Bernie Mac offending people at a fund raising dinner for Barack Obama. His style was kinda in your face humor. Either you loved him or you didn’t get him at all. With Bernie there was really no middle ground.

According to the article on AOL, Bernie died from complications from pneumonia. Also from the article “The comedian suffered from sarcoidosis, an inflammatory lung disease that produces tiny lumps of cells in the body’s organs, but had said the condition went into remission in 2005. He recently was hospitalized and treated for pneumonia, which his publicist said was not related to the disease.”

What a tragic loss. Bernie was at the top of his game and in the prime of his life. My sympathies go out to his friends and family.

RIP Bernie.

My Friday Five

Today is just a random five things that are on my mind:

  1. I have no idea how I’m going to pay tuition for my last 3 classes. I only have enough cash for 1 1/2 classes. My first payment is due on the 17th so I have a week to work some magic.
  2. My car needs a ton of work to pass inspection. Between that and school I’m extra broke.
  3. I still haven’t made arrangements for my trip home to the reunion. I’m such a procrastinator.
  4. My mom’s birthday is on the 15th. I have to mail her cards and presents soon.
  5. I’m on vacation from work next week. Yaaaaaayyyy! It may be one of those Vegas vacations or it might be a cruise. I’ll talk about it once I come back. As such, there won’t be a joke of the week or a Friday Five next week. I’ll try to update sometime during the week but I don’t know which days.

Have a great weekend! My fun will start at 3:30 today!

The Cat’s Diary:

Day 983 of my captivity.

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed some sort of dry nuggets. Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength. The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet. Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates my capabilities. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a “good little hunter” I am. Jerks!

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of “allergies.” I must learn what this means, and how to use it to my advantage. Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow, but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released, and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded. The bird must be an informant. I observe him communicate with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now.

I’m flying to the family reunion

Well I’m flying to NJ and I’ll catch a ride with someone to the spot where the reunion is being held. I know my friend Geneva has a GPS in her car so I hope to get a ride with her. The reunion is in the boonies in a area where no one is familiar with. They chose that spot because it has a lake for the kids to go swimming. I just hope somebody tested out the water to make sure it’s a safe swimming area.

I really wanted to drive so I would have my car but I don’t mind flying either. Now I just need to figure out what I’m taking and I’ll be good to go.

My new MP3 player is here

But I still don’t have it. It’s at the UPS Center. They first attempted to deliver last Thursday. Now they’ll hold the package for 5 additional days. I don’t feel like going to the UPS Center so I’ll wait until Monday before I leave for vacation and go pick it up. The only thing that stinks about that is that I won’t have anything downloaded onto it so I won’t be able to use it until I get back.

Hmmm, maybe I’ll go Friday after work and pick it up. I can’t imagine waiting another week to use it.

The free baseball preview is over

Twice a year Comcast gives a free MLB preview. You get about 5 days worth of games each time. Just enough to suck you in and make you want to order the package. Unfortunately for me the package is almost $200. Yeah if you watch a game at least 3 times per week it will even out over the cost of going to those games. But I’m not paying that much for the package.

We just had the free preview last week. Someone forgot to turn it off and we actually had games for 3 or 4 extra days. I sat down and was all ready to watch a game on Friday and it was over. I don’t believe that was a mistake at all though. I think they were trying to suck us in. You know, get us hooked and then we can’t resist.

I love the free preview but I’m not paying for the package. Comcast and the owner get enough of my money.

What to take to the family reunion?

I really have no idea. We’re supposed to bring side dishes as the family will supply the meat (chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, etc.). My uncle suggested that I bring plates or chips. How many people are really going to want chips at a picnic with all of that other stuff. I think the chips are mainly for the kids.

I don’t know how I’m getting there yet so I haven’t committed. I still have a week before I have to make a definite plans. As long as they don’t ask for anything like garden decor. I mean we’re going to a state park after all. I hope someone remembers to bring extra chairs for the adults and blankets for the kids. We’re going to be there all day so we should at least be comfortable.

I know one thing, I can’t wait to eat those ribs!
