Grrr Winter stinks!

Have I mentioned how much I hate Winter lately? I really do. I was supposed to go somewhere yesterday but then there was this snow/ice storm so I couldn’t go. Now I have to either go tomorrow or wait until Saturday afternoon. Of course Saturday will be a madhouse with everyone doing their Christmas shopping.

I’m trying to do everything I can to make sure that this is my last Winter in the cold!

I can’t sleep in this weekend

At least not on Saturday anyway. I have my eye appointment for 10:20 in the morning. That means I’ll have to be up by 8:00am. For most people that is sleeping in but I consider 10am sleeping in.

It’s cold outside and I don’t even get to rest. Sigh, at least I don’t have to worry about doing homework. That’s something I guess, right?!?!

I ate a bunch of junk this weekend

Ugh I know I shouldn’t eat a lot of junk but this weekend was really bad. I ate almost a whole box of chocolate covered pretzels. Did I mention that I’m allergic to chocolate in large amounts? Yeah that’s gonna be a good look for me next week. I’ll be some kind of scary looking. I’ll have hives all over the place. Did I mention the candy plus the piece of cheese cake. Oh and I have a pizza for dinner tonight. I love pizza.

I guess it’s a good thing I’m still working out or I would have gained a ton of weight over the last month. I don’t think diet pills alone would have helped me. Maybe it’s over-eating because it’s Winter or maybe it’s just the holiday season in general. Whatever it is, I’ll be glad when I get back on track and start watching what I eat again.

My Friday Five

I don’t have a set topic today so it will be a random 5 things:

  1. I may not go to our work holiday luncheon today. I have some business to take care of and I can’t go during lunch. I don’t mind missing it but my coworkers may not be happy.
  2. I wrote to a professor a week ago asking to get into a class and I haven’t heard anything back yet. Needless to say, I’m getting antsy.
  3. I should start writing one of my stories this weekend. I have a couple of good ideas and I need to put them down on paper.
  4. It’s snowing so I won’t probably go anywhere. Which is a good reason for #3.
  5. I need a shopping list for Wally World. I have a ton of stuff to get and I know if I don’t write everything down, I’ll forget something.

That’s it for this week. Have a great weekend!

I don’t think I’m going home for Christmas

I don’t have any days left at work. I was sick twice this year and missed 5 of my 6 days. Then I had to use my personal day to take care of some business for school. If I take the day after Christmas off, I won’t get paid for it. Not only that but I can’t afford the ticket home either. If I can’t go home, I surely can’t afford to go shopping for home theater seating. I can’t really afford anything this holiday season. I’m even short with my school budget so I really need to start bringing in some extra cash.

If I’m stuck here by myself, what in the world am I going to do all day to occupy my time?

Joke of the week

How Long’s It Been?

An old but still ruggedly handsome Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young, idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation. “Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?”

“Negative, ma’am. Just serious by nature.”

The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, “It looks like you have seen a lot of action.”

“Yes, ma’am, a lot of action.”

The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation, said, “You know, you should lighten up a little. Relax and enjoy yourself.”

The Sergeant Major just stared at her in his serious manner. Finally, the young lady said, “You know, I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but when is the last time you’ve been with a woman?”

“1955, ma’am.”

“Well, there you are. You really need to chill out and quit taking everything so seriously!? I mean, 1955!?”

Feeling charitable and a little bit drunk, she took his hand and led him to a private room where she proceeded to spend some time with him. Afterwards, panting for breath, she leaned against his chest and said, “Wow, you sure didn’t forget much since 1955!”

The Sergeant Major, glancing at his watch, said in his matter-of-fact voice, “I hope not, it’s only 2130 now.”

(Gotta love military time!)

The class I need is closed

I thought I had all of my requirements done for school. But when the student records office looked over my account, they found out that I need an additional writing class. I wanted to drop the class I have and add a new one that means the requirement. However all of the night classes are closed. I wrote to a professor that is teaching one of the classes that fits in my schedule but she hasn’t written me back yet.

It would really suck if I had to wait until the summer to take my final class.

I didn’t get my eyes examined this weekend

Because it snowed like crazy. There wasn’t a lot of snow, only about 2 inches. But the salt trucks had never come out and the roads were really bad. There were a bunch of accidents out there too. Most of them were people that just slid off of the road because of the ice. Driving on ice is even worse than driving on snow.

Maybe I’ll go this weekend coming up. If I don’t make it then, I doubt if I’ll get it done before the end of the year rush which will be a total bummer.

Having my eyes examined

I hate going to the doctor. Any doctor strikes fear in me but especially the eye doctor. I just don’t like going. I don’t know how I got a phobia from the eye doctor but I have one. I know it’s time to get my eyes examined because I can barely see. Even the letters on my Kohler sinks are blurry. That means it’s time for a new prescription. I want to hurry up and get my exam before the end of the year because I’m only getting contacts this year. Next year I’ll get glasses too.

I just want to hurry up and get it out of the way.

School is out for the fall

My final paper for the semester was due today. We don’t have a final exam in my class. I chose to use my in class assignments as my final instead of taking a exam. Now I can concentrate of Christmas shopping. I only have a few people to buy for but I want to get some things for myself. A nice pair of Beautifeel shoes or some new work pants would be great. I’ll also hit the store and look for a new turtleneck or sweater for myself. I know the stores will be crowded this weekend so I might wait until next week.

All I know is I don’t have to even think about school for 3 weeks and I’m lovin’ it!
