Joke of the week

In a courtroom, a purse-snatcher is on trial and the victim is stating what happened.

She says, “Yes, that is him. I saw him clear as day. I’d remember his face anywhere.”

At which point, the defendant bursts out, “You couldn’t see my face, lady. I was wearing a mask!”

Not a bad week for the Pirates

I was reading the paper and trying to see what’s going on with the baseball races. I did notice that the Pirates had been on a recent winning streak, then lost a game or two. They did end their season at home with a win which is a good thing. I also saw that Pedro Alvarez won the NL Player of the Week. That’s something that no player had done since 2008.

It seems that Pedro is playing better recently and I think that has something to do with the fact that he’s slimmed down. It doesn’t seem like he suffering from phenphedrine side effects either. He seems to be getting into a zone after only half a season in the majors. That seems to be a good omen for next season.

Hopefully the Pirates will end the season with a winning streak. You gotta take the small victories as they come.

I’m a great Aunt

Unfortunately that’s not great as in wonderful. It’s great as in my niece has a baby which makes me a great Aunt. The only thing I thought when I heard that she had a baby was “please don’t let her name have any Q’s, Z’s or apostrophes”. Of course the baby has 2 out of 3. Her name is Zah’Miah which is a pretty name in spite of the unusualness <- (is that even a word?!?!?!?) of the name.

I can’t wait to go home and actually get to hold her.

Stepping away from the girl fight

I was walking towards my bus stop after work and I noticed a large group of teenagers on the opposite side of the street. That’s not really unusual since most of them are hanging out downtown for a few hours after school. I was surprised by the sheer number of kids though.

Just as I got close to them, I heard alot of shouting and noticed that there was a lot of movement into the street. I turned my head and saw 2 seperate fights and both fights were girls. In the one fight, I saw the smaller girl trying to rip off the larger girl’s shirt.

I stayed on my side of the street and kept walking. I didn’t want to get caught up in the madness. I hadn’t even taken 10 steps when the first police car showed up. By the time I had gotten almost a block away, there were already 3 cars with several police officers.

While I’m curious as to what eventually happened, I wasn’t about to stand around and watch it. It always seem to be the innocent bystanders that get caught up in the madness and I wasn’t gonna let that happen to me.

It’s time to update my wardrobe

Summer is finally leaving and it’s time for me to pull out the fall clothes. Unfortunately I don’t have a lot of clothes that fit so it’s time for me to go shopping. I work in a casual environment so I can wear slacks, khakis or even casual dresses if I choose to. My plan of action for shopping is generally one or two pairs of pants and a lot of shirts. I figure no one will notice if you wear the same pants in one week but I always try to have enough shirts to last me almost 3 weeks before I have to repeat one.

I haven’t been shopping in so long that I’m actually pretty excited right now.

The new baseball schedule is out

I’m was surprised that the 2011 schedule is already out before we’re even done with 2010. I guess it’s for people who may want to make plans to follow their teams around the country next summer. I’m kinda excited because they Pirates play the AL East next year. The Yankees aren’t on the schedule, but we do plan Tampa and Boston at home. We also play Detroit as part of the interleague games schedule.

I may have to look into buying tickets and making arrangements now. I’ll probably just drive up to Cleveland to see a few games. I would rather go to New York but it’s so expensive there. On the positive side, there is so much to do. I can go to the museums, buy shoes or find out where to buy apidexin for the best price possible. Even more exciting, I would be able to get a hair style that I just can’t get done here. And the price would be really cheap.

I guess I’ll start saving money a little at a time and see if I can hit the road and catch a game or two.

Who spilled food on the carpet?

I don’t know which of my neighbors it was but I have a good guess. It’s really annoying because they spilled the food right outside my door. Of course, that means the aroma is wafting under my door and it smells like there is bad food in my apartment. Yes it’s literally outside of my door.

Yesterday morning the smell was in my livingroom. By last night the smell had started to drift towards my bedroom. I’ll definitely need to take a sleep aid to get to sleep or else that smell will keep me up all night. I’ve already alerted my building manager to see if he can do anything and I did notice that someone else tried to dump perfume or something on it to mask the smell.

I’ll throw some baking soda on it myself to kill the smell. If I need to, I’ll clean the carpet in the hallway myself. After all, I’m the one most affected by the smell.

I need another pair of headphones

Seriously, I go through about 4 pairs of headphones every year. I don’t know what I do to them but I keep short them out. The worse part is that it’s usually only in 1 ear. I can hear fine out of the right side, but the left side is totally silent. Of course, they didn’t short out on my way home, it had to happen on my way to work this morning. That means no music on the way to and from work. I also won’t be able to listen to anything all day while I’m at work.

I guess that’s just another thing to add to the shopping list for this weekend. While I’m buying slimming body wraps and other personal effects, I may as well grab a few pair of headphones. I’ve already gone through 2 pairs this year so hopefully another 3 pairs will last me for a while.

At least I hope so because this is starting to get expensive.

I have to take an unexpected trip home

My mom is sick but I’m not sure just how sick she is. I know that she’s lost a lot of weight recently but my mom is really small anyway. She weighs anywhere from 90-100 pounds normally. She got the shingles 2 years ago and went down to 80 pounds and she never gained the weight back. Now she’s lost even more weight and it’s getting kind of scary. I know the doctors want her to take the best weight gain supplement that they have to get her back into the normal range. Her stomach is small and she only eats small amounts of food so we can’t fatten her up with cakes, cookies and other junk foods.

I’ll probably go this weekend and see what’s going on and just make sure everything is ok.

I should join my coworker on her diet

I don’t know exactly who it is that’s on the diet though. I went into our breakroom to get my bottle of water and  I saw the wrappers in the garbage can. I don’t know if they’re taking any supplements like creatine with their diet or if they’ve just changed their eating habits. Sometimes I think it’s best to take some kind of aid to jump start your metabolism. My weight comes off so slowly that I think I would need a shock to my system to effectively lose weight.

Now I just need to figure out which coworker it is and get some hints and tips.
