Archive for the ‘basketball’

None of my teams won yesterday

It was just awful. Almost every game that I watched, the team that I was rooting for lost. There were a couple of games that I didn’t really care about but I watched them just because. I have to admit this past weekend was nice. There was football on all day Saturday and then basketball on all day Sunday.

Now we’re on to Monday and I don’t want to see either team that’s playing football tonight. There are a ton of basketball games but I don’t think any of them are coming on regular tv. I refuse to pay for a league pass for any of the major sports so I don’t get to see the games that they show.

I’m sure I’ll find something on television tonight to occupy my time. At least until I hit the casino so I don’t have to go out tomorrow.

2011 NBA Finals Quotes And Awesome Moments

Awesome moments:

Mark Cuban requesting that David Stern present the Larry O’Brien trophy to the original owner of the Mavericks, Donald Carter and his wife, Linda Jo.

Jason Kidd being the oldest player to start and win a Finals game.

That hug between Dirk and Jason T. minutes before the game ended.

LeBron not winning!!!

Bill Russell presenting the Finals MVP trophy to Dirk.

***Edited to add*** I almost forgot the best moment of all…

Dirk’s coach, mentor, father figure Holger Geschwindner looking on with tears in his eyes and a look of pride when it was evident that the Mavs were going to win…Truly awesome moment.

***End of Edit***

Quotes:

Dirk Nowitzki on LeBron and D Wade mocking his cough: I thought it was a little childish…a little ignorant.

This series is getting good

Wow the Mavs really did well on Tuesday and I can’t wait for tonight’s game. I’m hoping they can win tonight and take a 3-2 lead into Miami where they’ve already won a game. I was online looking for info on the team and I found a lot of other information. I found a ton of san antonio jobs and it’s making me think I should move there since they have way more jobs than I’ve seen locally.

I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it or not but I’m not really a basketball fan at all so it’s pretty odd that I’m enjoying this series as much as I am.

Last night was a good sports night

I’m pretty happy because both the Mavs and the Pirates won their respective games. The Pirates are now 1 game under .500 and the Mavs tied up the series at 2-2. I’m happy for both teams because I want to see the Mavs win it all and I’m hoping the Pirates will finally have a winning season.

Unfortunately for the Yankees, Teixiera was hit on the knee and had to leave the game. The knee isn’t fractured and Tex is listed as day to day. I don’t really worry about the Yankees though, they may have lost last night but they’ll be ok.

With no football to look forward to in the foreseeable future, at least I have baseball and basketball to get my by. For the next week or two anyway.

My Insane Random Ramblings

Just a bunch of random thoughts today:

  •  My niece’s birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get her.
  • I’m hoping for an invite to visit some relatives in Florida. That way I can take my niece and visit my other relatives at the same time.
  • I’m kinda irked that the Mav’s lost last night. I so do not want to see the Heat win a championship.
  • Why did I just decide that Dirk is a hottie.
  • I think it’s the hair.
  • The Pirates got shellacked yesterday. They had beat the Phillies by a large margin in the previous two games but yesterday was a hot mess.
  • Their record isn’t too bad this year.
  • Maybe this is the year they break the .500 mark.

That’s all.

Congrats to the LA Lakers!

Congrats go out to the Black Mamba and Company for winning the NBA Championship! I’m not a fan of the NBA but ya gotta give credit where credit is due.

I might be able to add to my sports shelf

I think it’s pretty evident that I love sports. I talk about them a lot. Not as much as I used to, but it’s still more than most. Anyway, I have a sports shelf in my living room with a few bobbleheads and a autographed football among other things. I didn’t think I would be able to add any more sports collectibles for a while but now I might be able to.

I found a site called Hyped-Up Sports that sells sports memorabilia which is cool. But even better is their new program called the Send It In Program where you send in stuff to be signed by your favorite athlete. So far they have LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods and Kevin Durant. Each person signs on their own schedule. Actually, I just checked and Michael Jordan was scheduled in February. Bummer! But everyone else is still available. What a great way to add sports collectibles to my growing collection of articles.

When I first went to the site, the first item that caught my eye was a Alex Rodriguez autographed bat. Now I know that I have a “I love Ryan Howard” category, but I really love A-Rod. It’s too bad he’s not in the program. Do you think I could send myself? No. Oh well, I guess I’ll just have to stalk admire him when he comes to Pittsburgh in June. I can not wait!!!!!!!
