Archive for the ‘books’

My brother got his books already

Man that fast. I didn’t think he would get them for a while. Most of the places I looked at had a 3 week delivery policy. I was looking for a waterproof camera for myself so I wasn’t too thrilled with spending my money on his books. However I did find some for a really great price with a decent shipping policy and that’s where I ordered them from. He told me that he actually got them at the end of last week which was only about 10 days.

I love when places give great customer service. The next time I want to buy more books I’ll go back to that same guy. Now I just need to find a gift for myself. I guess I’ll go back and poke around that site where I saw the camera. I saw some other electronics for pretty reasonable prices. And I am in the market for a new laptop and a Ipod.

On second thought, I had better wait until payday because I think I’m going to end up spending a lot more than I had planned.

Who knew books were that expensive?!?!

I finally ordered my brothers books. I had to go to at least 4 different stores before I could find them for a decent price. He doesn’t have any of those electronic readers so I had to get him regular paper back books. I ordered 5 books and at one store the total was close to $75. I knew that was too much so I searched around and I finally got all 5 for $38 which included shipping.

I hope he doesn’t read these books too fast. I’m not ready to buy more books yet.

I forgot to order books for my brother

My brother asked me to order some books for him about 2 weeks ago and I keep forgetting. I did make it as far as going online and looking to see who had the books for the best prices. I narrowed it down to 2 places and I will probably go with half.com. Partially because they have the best prices but they are also a part of a program where you earn cash back for your purchases. I know once I see that epson receipt printer register tape ring up with the cost of all of those books, I’ll probably be ready to fall out.

I figure if I can earn a few bucks back, it will cut down on the price of the books. Then of course, I can buy my brother another stack of books in a few weeks. He doesn’t ask for much so when he does ask for something I try my best to get it.

Reading for school

I catch the bus every day to go to work and twice a week to go to school. Usually I listen to my IPOD to keep me busy. Some mornings I just sit there and “zone out”. I just stare into space trying to get ready for the day. In the afternoons, I’ll read the paper or take a short nap before school.

I thought about it yesterday afternoon and realized that I’m wasting valuable time. I’ve decided that I’m going to start reading my books for school on the ride. This morning I started the book that I have to read for my quiz on Thursday. I got through the entire first chapter, which was pretty long, before I got to work. I could have started the 2nd chapter but I decided to read entire chapters at one time and not stop in the middle.

I might as well be productive with my time. Who am I kidding? I just want to be able to watch more tv and play on the computer when I get home instead of doing school-work every night. Hey whatever works right?

Class starts today

I don’t know if I’m ready or not! I’m kinda nervous because I didn’t take any classes this year so I’ve gotten out of the habit of studying. This is a short summer course. It only lasts 6 weeks. It’s twice a week for 3 hours and 15 minutes. It’s a history class so I know I’ll be tired by the end of the night.

This is one of those classes that makes me glad that I have a good memory. I’ll probably wind up memorizing all of my notes for the quizzes and/or exams. I don’t even have my books yet. I have to stop by the bookstore on my way to class and get them. I know I need 4 books. 3 are really little pamphlets, there’s only 1 real text book.

I just hope these next 6 weeks go by quickly.

30 Secrets of the World’s Healthiest Cuisines

I was listening to the John Tesh radio show (stop laughing I like that show) and he reviewed a book called 30 Secrets of the World’s Healthiest Cuisines. The very first thing he talked about was Scandanavian countries, Sweden in particular. They don’t snack at all. They eat their 3 square meals per day but they don’t eat a lot of junk food like we do in the U.S.

In some Asian cultures, meat is used as a flavor enhancer. They eat a lot of vegetables and rice but hardly any meat at all. And the secrets of Mediterranean foods is using olive oil is better than other oils, but eating olives is even better for you.

It was a lot of information and very interesting. And yes, I will admit that I listen to the John Tesh radio show.

Books I want to read

Once the semester is over there are a couple of books I want to read. I want to read the book by The Bus - Jerome Bettis. It’s his own words and experiences. He talks about some topics that are controversial. I also want to read the book by Karinne Steffans Video Vixen. Actually I want to read her other book too The Vixen Diaries. It’s a train wreck but I can’t help but want to read it for myself.

Of course, this will have to wait until after the semester is over. Maybe I can get somebody to buy me the books for Christmas.
