Winter will be here way too soon for my liking

I always say that Summer is my favorite season. I love to enjoy the weather while wearing my summer shoes and capri pants with a nice tee shirt. But that’s at a end right now. The weather has been fluctuating but it’s basically in the low 60’s or high 50’s.

One of the things I have to do before it gets too cold is winterize my car. I need to have the belts and hoses inspected and get my coolant checked and/or refilled. I also need to look into tire chains for my car. We had a ton of snow last year and I may be doing a lot of driving this year. Making sure my car is road ready will really give me piece of mind.

I had better start making appointments now because snow and frigid temperatures will be here before you know it.

I need a new mattress and box spring

The light bulb in my bedroom finally went out. It usually only goes out about once per year so I don’t have to change it often. This past weekend, I hopped up on the bed to change the light and my feet started to sink into the mattress. I also heard sounds like the mattress was creaking and popping. It just sounded bad.

I had planned on buying a new bedroom set when I moved but now I don’t know if I can hold off. I would prefer to wait so I can have more cash saved up and pay a lot of the expense right then and there. I do plan on getting a finance same as cash type of deal from the furniture store but I want to have some cash on hand.

Hopefully the mattress will hold out until at least next Spring.

I may look outside my company for a new job

I’ve been looking for a job for several months. I’ve applied for quite a few jobs and only had a nibble or two with two interviews. Now I’m thinking of expanding my job search outside of my company. One of my good friends has relatives that work for our local county government. I had more than one person offer to put in a good reference for me with people that they know.

I would probably start pretty close to what I make now but the annual increases would be higher than what I now receive. If I got a promotion my salary would really take off. I have to really weigh the pros and cons. I don’t have a lot of seniority where I am now but if I leave I would be starting all over again.

I guess I’ll wait and see what jobs are available and go from there. There’s no sense in stressing about it and then finding out that there are no jobs that I’m qualified for. Hopefully something will open up somewhere, the sooner the better.

My new bank does not play

I got fed up with my old bank and went to a new bank for my checking and savings accounts. My new bank is on the ball too. If you have a bill posted for today, the money is unavailable as of today. Where as with most banks the money is still available until the payment is actually presented by the payee. It sure keeps me on my toes to make sure my checking account info is accurate and up to date.

I can also contact my new bank 24 hours a day. On the phone I can get a real person any time of the day or night. They have live chat software that I can use if I want to communicate with them over the internet. Or I can send them a email and they’ll respond to my account on their site and to my personal email address. That works for me because I don’t have to wait until I get home to read the email.

So far I’m loving my decision and I don’t miss my old bank at all.
