Archive for the ‘football’

None of my teams won yesterday

It was just awful. Almost every game that I watched, the team that I was rooting for lost. There were a couple of games that I didn’t really care about but I watched them just because. I have to admit this past weekend was nice. There was football on all day Saturday and then basketball on all day Sunday.

Now we’re on to Monday and I don’t want to see either team that’s playing football tonight. There are a ton of basketball games but I don’t think any of them are coming on regular tv. I refuse to pay for a league pass for any of the major sports so I don’t get to see the games that they show.

I’m sure I’ll find something on television tonight to occupy my time. At least until I hit the casino so I don’t have to go out tomorrow.

I should have washed clothes last night

Instead of watching football. The Steelers won so that was cool. There were some pretty good games involving our division (the Ravens lost, yeah!) but I didn’t get to watch those. The Pats played the Chargers but I wasn’t interested in that game.

Then the game I waited all day for, the Eagles vs the Falcons. It was a pretty good game but there were a lot of turnovers/mistakes. In the end, the Falcons won so I was pretty bummed about that. My coworker was happy because her cousin plays for the Falcons but other than that, she wasn’t interested in that game.

Meanwhile, I put off doing laundry so I could watch the game. I should have done the laundry.

Dreams do come true

I’m so happy for a friend. Not really her, but her cousin. He plays football and he was just signed to a NFL team! He’s packing because he leaves tomorrow to start camp etc.

He’s such a nice and humble guy and it’s really good to see something positive happen to him. I really wish him the best of luck!

I only need around $4900

For a trip to the Super Bowl. Ughhhh I knew that it was expensive but I didn’t know how expensive it could be. The fact that it’s clear across the country in Dallas is one factor. The other is just that the Super Bowl is expensive as all get out. If you can get a ticket for the game at face value you’re looking at over $700 per ticket. And you have to get those early in the year and that’s the luck of the draw.

I would love to go to at least one Super Bowl during my lifetime. It would help if I could just win a trip. That would take care of everything.

That game was stressful

Man what a great game!! But it was super stressful at times. The game started out great with the Steelers rolling for 24 points in the first half. But I guess the team got a little too laid back in the 2nd half and the Jets came out guns blazing! I felt like I would need a point of care cart because my heart was beating so fast. The final score was Steelers 24 and the Jets 19 but it was really close.

Now it’s on to Dallas and Super Bowl 45. I’ve never been to a Super Bowl and I would love to go but I know it’s not a economic reality. That’s what I need to start saving my money for because I want to go to a Super Bowl within the next couple of years.

I would love to go to the game today

But it’s only supposed to be 16 degrees and it’s supposed to snow. Now I love football as much as the next person but that’s a little bit too cold for me. I also just got over a cold/flu one two punch so it would be crazy for me to sit outside in the cold, wind and snow even if it is to cheer on the Steelers!

Besides I have the best seat in the house right here on my comfy couch!

Don’t back down or back track dude!

I wrote that sports related post yesterday and 2 things changed.

  1. Dez Bryant back-tracks. I liked it better when he just straight up said “nah I ain’t carrying your pads”. Instead he comes out now with how he didn’t know it was a tradition and blah blah blah. Everybody knows it’s a tradition. Hell I’ve never stepped on a football field or even held a football and I know. What is revealing is that he said Roy Williams had a attitude like you’re gonna do this. That’s what ticked him off and made him say no. I guess he has try to give it a positive spin.
  2. T.O. got a job with the Bengals. That team is gonna be a mess. You have the two biggest hams in football on the same team now. The first thing T.O. did was tweet that “Ocho Uno” is coming to town and then equate him and Chad OchoCinco to Batman and Robin. A hot mess. There will be some major fireworks on that team.

What a fine mess of a football season we’re in for!

The Super Bowl wasn’t so super

At least not for me. I really didn’t want the Saints to win. I was cheering as hard as I could for the Colts but it just wasn’t meant to be this year. I didn’t even like the commercials this year. I’m pretty ambivelant on the new E-Trade baby. He’s ok but I was used to the old baby. I couldn’t really get too excited about the commercial.

I did not like the Doritos commercial with the little boy, the mother and her date. I was really beside myself when I saw him slap the guy. I would have been heading for the nearest exit signs and not looking back. There’s something about this commercial that really gets under my skin but I can’t put my finger on it. I did however love the Snickers commercial with Betty White and Abe Vigoda. I know it’s bad to laugh at old people getting jacked up but the commercial was funny.

Here’s hoping that the Steelers are in the Super Bowl next year. Or at least there are better commercials.

Moving the NFL Pro Bowl is a bad idea

The NFL made the decision to move the Pro Bowl to the week before the Super Bowl. It was held in Miami this year and was sold out. I think it’s a bad idea because any member of the two teams that are in the big game can’t play, they just roam the sidelines. If the fans voted these people in, they’re the players that we want to see.

Then you have the venue. It was a treat for these guys to get a all expense trip to Hawaii. Sure most of them could afford to pay for it anyway but that’s not the point. A weekend trip to Miami in January is cool. But what about when the game is held in Detroit, Minnesota or another dome city?

I hope they move the game back to the week after the Super Bowl. That only seems to make sense to me.

The Steelers didn’t make the playoffs this year

I guess I’m sad about that somewhat. To be honest I really wasn’t into football this year as much as I’ve been in the past few years. I was way more into baseball season than anything else. I’m especially getting antsy right now because we’re in the thick of Winter and I know it’s almost spring training time which means spring.

Oh well I guess I’ll have to pick a team to root for throughout the playoffs. Hopefully this time next year, the Steelers will be back in the playoffs where they belong.
