Archive for the ‘fun stuff’

It’s my cousin’s birthday

Yay!!! Happy Birthday Hoake….lololol

Right now he’s out enjoying his day. Not only does he have great weather but he’s taking in a Phillies game as we speak. I’m extremely jealous right now since I’m couped up at work for another hour.

I’ll have to call him tomorrow and see how his day went.

I need to find some complimentary codes

I am so hooked on Club Pogo right now that it’s ridiculous. I do have a favorite game but I’ve been playing anything that looks interesting. I play mostly Lottso and Yahtzee Party. I also like Lottso Express, Monopoly Slots and Vaults of Atlantis Slots in addition to Word Whomp! Like I said, I play a lot on their site.

I did have a free code that let me join their exclusive club free for one month. The club is good because you get to play games like Lottso and Monopoly Slots that are for members only. Club members also play games without interruptions. I was so annoyed last night when I kept seeing ads between my games.

The club is only about $30-40 per year but I’m looking to play free. I would really hate to pay just to play games.

Do you really know all 600 of your Facebook friends?

I’m been looking around Facebook and trying to get the hang of it. So far I’m doing okay but I know there’s a lot more stuff around that I still haven’t seen.

One thing that I’m still amazed at is friends lists. One of my friends has over 600 friends and another person has over 2000 friends!! Really?!?! Do you even know half of those people? I know that FB and social media can be powerful networking tools but some of these people aren’t in the position to help anyone get a job if you catch my drift.

So what is it? Is it just a popularity contest or are people just that nosy that they want to see what other people have to say? Personally I don’t get it. I have several people that I have to confirm right now that I don’t know at all, they’re just mutual friends. Then there are the people that I haven’t talked to in years. Why would they want to be my friends? We don’t talk in real life and I can’t see us catching up through Facebook.

I like the site and I’m having fun using it but I will not “friend” a bunch of random people just because it seems to be the thing to do. I’ll do fine with my small handful of real friends thankyouverymuch.

I’m finally starting to get the hang of Facebook

I’ve been poking around Facebook for a month or so now. I still only have 3 friends and that’s because I recently added my cousin to my friends list. I still have 12 people in my queue to confirm and I don’t know 3 of them. The race to see how many friends you can amass is something that I still haven’t figured out yet. I don’t know if it makes people feel good to have extra friends or what.

I’m still trying to edit my profile though. My current city field doesn’t quite say what I want it to. I’ll keep tweaking it until I finally get it right. In the mean time, I need to weed through those friend requests.

I should waited before turning in points that I had earned

I had some points from a program that I participate in (MCR) that I turned in for a mini grill and cooler. 2 days later I saw gift cards to some awesome places on there. They had a bunch of stores that I normally shop at but they also had Paypal. That’s the best gift ever because it’s cash and you can use cash anywhere.

The cash would have been great because there are some things in my apartment that seriously need to be updated. Some of them are my responsibility and some are my management companies responsibility. I need to buy new kitchen blinds and blinds for my bedroom. I also need a new ceiling fan because the one I have now is on it’s last leg. My management company has to steam-clean my carpet and fix the ceiling in my bedroom. After all of that is done, I’ll feel like my apartment is home again.

The next time though, I’m holding out for the cash.

Here we go again with Monopoly at McDonald’s

I play this game every time it comes out. I never win anything though so I don’t know why I bother. I guess it’s just the thrill of the chase that keeps me coming back. Something cool this year is that you can play on your cell phone. I can’t get the internet on my phone but I used one of my coworkers smart phone to play the game. She has a touch screen iphone which is really easy to use to enter codes. It really makes me want to upgrade to an internet capable phone.

Maybe this will be the year that I break through and actually win something.

I have a new toy at work

Anything to take my mind off of work is a good thing in my opinion. My job really supports our hometown sports teams and every year we get some kind of gift with the team logos. A few years ago it was a hockey pin and last year was a foam football with our logo and the Steelers logo.

This year is something really cool that I’ll get a lot of use out of. It’s a dry erase board with a logo for all 3 local sports teams. And it came with it’s own pen. So I can write stuff and erase it to my hearts content.

Just what I need, another distraction from work.

My funny jacket story

At least it’s funny to me. I wear one of those big shirts/jackets every day at work. I’m always cold and no matter how many muscle supplements or vitamins I take, it doesn’t help. Yesterday was freezing in the office. It was at least 10 degrees cooler than outside so I threw my jacket across my shoulders like a shawl like I always do.

I walked around like that for over an hour before a coworker asked me if I realized that it was inside out! It was funny too because I was serious about being cold and trying to straighten the jacket out. Then I kept wondering why it was still crooked across my back. Well no wonder!

Needless to say, my coworkers and I got a pretty good chuckle about that. And I’ll be sure to check more carefully before I throw the jacket on.

I forgot today was Saint Patrick’s Day

It’s ironic that I decided to wear green today. When I first got to work, one of my coworkers pointed out that we both had on green and I still didn’t get it. It wasn’t until another coworker pointed out that none of the people in the office of Irish decent were wearing green that the light bulb went off.

Today is the one day it’s cool to be dressed in green from head to toe and drink green beer (if you drink beer). You can also find corn beef and cabbage at almost every restaurant you visit. Most people won’t worry about finding a cure for hair loss today. Now tomorrow when that hangover wears off, it’s another story.

But today we party and have fun. Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

I’m done with in store games

You know like McDonald’s and Subway games. This time it was the game at Rite Aid where you save the pieces to get prizes. Of course I kept getting the same game pieces. However this time, unlike the last few times, I really only went to the store if the item I wanted was on sale and I really needed it. No more reading a thermotox review and then going and buying it on the spur of the moment. The game lasts for one more week but I’m done with it. If I happen to go in there to buy something fine, but I won’t go out of my way.

Now I just have to apply that logic to the rest of those games that I never win.
