Insane Random Ramblings

I generally buy myself something small for Christmas every year. This year I’m supposed to buy myself a Ipod Touch. The mid-range one costs around $280. I have about $180 in internet gift codes to use so I only have to kick out $100. But since I’m on this buy a house kick, I’m using some of the extra money that I would have had and adding it to my savings. So my extra check will be pretty light this year.

I haven’t decided what to do yet. I may wait and accrue gift cards and pay for it in full with that. But it may be February or March before I actually have enough for it. I will check out some of the websites that I’ve learned about from Triangle Direct. They work with a lot of internet companies that I had never heard of before. After researching them, I found that they give good service and have good prices.

I don’t want to go with one of the giant companies out there if there is another company that will serve my needs even better.

I had yesterday off of work because I had to burn some vacation time and Thursday is Thanksgiving so I have a short work week. I only work 3 days this week. Unfortunately the days were broken up. I’m working today and tomorrow, off Thursday and then I work Friday.

I don’t really want to work on Friday but I know if I had off I would be out in the Black Friday madness so it’s probably best that I sit at work. After all, I’ll be making money and not spending it.

I am so tired right now. I’ve been working a ton of overtime lately to try and save money to buy a house next year as well as pay down debt before I buy the house. It is really starting to take it’s toll on my body. I feel really run down and drained right now.

That’s one of the major reasons that I decided to save all of my vacation days until the end of the year. That way I can have some time to myself during the busy and stressful holiday season.

As for tomorrow, I plan on just lying around, doing nothing and getting as much rest as possible.

I have several reasons really. First it’s the holiday season and I may be buying gifts. I say maybe because my niece has ticked me off and the phone I have for her may be her only present for quite some time. Also I only want to work one or two days per week so if that fits into my schedule it would be great. It will also give me a little bit of current experience doing something else, even if it is only for a couple of months.

I’m mainly looking into paper pushing, telephone answering type jobs. But I may take a serious look at Cocktail Server Jobs. They get paid a pretty low wage but you can make up for it with the tips. I know some servers who have salaries that rival my office job salary and they work way fewer hours. Of course their job is a lot more stressful and tiring than mine.

I guess I had better get cracking before all of the fun jobs fill up.

Apparently last night there were not a lot of trick-or-treaters out. It did rain locally so I think that’s part of it but it also depends on where people live. One of my coworkers lives in a pretty high traffic area and she said she saw more kids than usual. Another coworker lives fairly close to the first one but one or two streets over and didn’t see even half the number as the first person.

Anyway since they didn’t get a lot of visitors, most of my coworkers brought in their extra candy. And it’s a lot of candy. Now every time I walk to see someone, I grab a piece of candy. On the way to the bathroom, grab a piece of candy. Walking outside of the office, grab a piece of candy.

By the end of the day I’m going to be on a serious sugar high.

And it all centers on the holiday season that we’re entering. There are holidays-with presents, birthdays-with presents, anniversaries-with presents, etc. Mainly it’s time to dole out a lot of presents.

I know that I’m buying my niece and nephew gifts but I don’t think I’m buying anything for anyone else. I was thinking about a package similar to Graduation Photo Cards but having them holiday themed for my cousins’ holiday bash. Now I’m not so sure, I think I may show her what to order and let her buy them so I can focus on the cake.

No matter how you slice it though, I’m getting ready to get hit in the pockets really hard.

Whenever I would go home to visit, I would stay at my moms’ house. Since her passing, I no longer have that option. I do have family that I can stay with but I don’t really feel comfortable with that option. I love my family but I’m not certain I want to stay in their home.

I did find a reasonably priced hotel in the area. Of course, I’ll have to whip out the dezl truck gps to find my way there and back but that’s the price you pay for privacy.

I wish I could afford to buy property in or near the town everyone lives in. I’m just not that well off though.

I haven’t had a real day off in over 2 months. I had time off near Christmas but it was due to a death in the family. Even though I was off for quite a few days, it wasn’t relaxing at all. After mourning, planning a funeral and packing up an entire house worth of furniture, I was totally exhausted. So I am taking advantage of having 3 days off this week.

I just hope today doesn’t fly by too quickly. I’m kinda enjoying this.
