Making my internet work pay off

I earn a lot of virtual currency from my internet activities. I surf the internet, visit blogs, answer surveys and use search engines. I was doing all of these things before but now I earn points from a couple of different sites which can be redeemed for gift cards or cash.

A few weeks ago I noticed that I had enough to cash out again and I started wondering what to do with the money. In the past, I’ve pretty much just wasted the money and I want to make sure I do something constructive going forward. I decided to buy gold coins online. I’ll also buy silver coins from the same company to round out my portfolio. I’m pretty good at researching what I want to buy so I know exactly what to get and where to get it from.

Now I just have to keep doing what I’ve been doing and watch the rewards roll in.

Having fun on the internet today

Everyday we have security updates at work. During the updates our firewalls temporarily come down and we can access almost any site on the internet. Today I broke through and I’m shopping like crazy before the firewall goes back up. I’m also looking at some cool sites that I normally don’t get to see.

I’m so happy that I don’t even know what site to hit first.

Do you really know all 600 of your Facebook friends?

I’m been looking around Facebook and trying to get the hang of it. So far I’m doing okay but I know there’s a lot more stuff around that I still haven’t seen.

One thing that I’m still amazed at is friends lists. One of my friends has over 600 friends and another person has over 2000 friends!! Really?!?! Do you even know half of those people? I know that FB and social media can be powerful networking tools but some of these people aren’t in the position to help anyone get a job if you catch my drift.

So what is it? Is it just a popularity contest or are people just that nosy that they want to see what other people have to say? Personally I don’t get it. I have several people that I have to confirm right now that I don’t know at all, they’re just mutual friends. Then there are the people that I haven’t talked to in years. Why would they want to be my friends? We don’t talk in real life and I can’t see us catching up through Facebook.

I like the site and I’m having fun using it but I will not “friend” a bunch of random people just because it seems to be the thing to do. I’ll do fine with my small handful of real friends thankyouverymuch.

I’m finally starting to get the hang of Facebook

I’ve been poking around Facebook for a month or so now. I still only have 3 friends and that’s because I recently added my cousin to my friends list. I still have 12 people in my queue to confirm and I don’t know 3 of them. The race to see how many friends you can amass is something that I still haven’t figured out yet. I don’t know if it makes people feel good to have extra friends or what.

I’m still trying to edit my profile though. My current city field doesn’t quite say what I want it to. I’ll keep tweaking it until I finally get it right. In the mean time, I need to weed through those friend requests.

I was supposed to look something up on the internet

But I have absolutely no idea what it was. I mean I totally forgot what I was looking for in a mere matter of minutes. I had closed my internet browser and was about to power down my computer when I remembered that I wanted to look for something. So I clicked to reopen my browser and waited forever for the internet to reload. The page finally loaded and I went to my handy search engine…..and drew a blank. I could have wanted to look at the barcode scanner for the new air conditioner I want to buy. Or I could have just wanted to check my bank balance. One thing is for sure, I have no idea what exactly it was that I wanted to do.

I feel kinda crazy because it was 3 days ago and I still haven’t the foggiest what it was I wanted to look for. I guess it will come to me eventually.

The internet is much funnier with sound

I had my sound on yesterday while I was surfing because I was listening to music. As I went to certain websites, I noticed that they had sound. Since I usually have my speakers on mute, I thought it was funny hearing all of the noises. Mostly I heard a buzzing sound like when you get the wrong answer on the Family Feud. I also heard a lot of clicking as pages loaded. That sound was pretty annoying though. I’m sure if I had gone looking for Acid cigars I would have heard the crackling sounds of smoke or even the sound of someone puffing on a cigar. There were a few other sounds that I heard but I can’t remember them all.

I figure I’ll turn the sound on every once in a while to get some entertainment as I’m playing around on different websites.

I’m on a internet ban at work

My boss has put the entire office on a internet ban. They are looking at a few people very closely, especially me. Right now they’re lurking about trying to see what I’m doing. I also think they have a few of my coworkers spying on us. It’s so ridiculous though. If I’m on my lunch or caught up on my work then what’s the problem?

I could see if I wasn’t doing my work or making too many mistakes because I was more concerned with the internet, but that’s not the case. This place is beyond juvenile.

I wonder what spammers actually get

From the spam comments I mean. I thought it was just backlinks to their sites, which can be very important if you’re trying to make money. Those backlinks can increase the visibility of your site and also raise the page rank. The rank of your site determines how much people are willing to pay you for those links. If you need to sell anti wrinkle cream, shoes or furniture, you would pay more for a site that highly ranked and even more for a site that is relevant to yours.

Otherwise I don’t see what they get out of spamming others. Unless they just a kick out of annoying other people.

I can’t let spammers upset me

It’s almost funny because I really almost let one of them get to me. The comment said something like my opinion was wrong and I didn’t know what I was talking about. When I first read the comment I got aggitated. Then I looked to see what post it was on and whether or not the comment was relevant. It wasn’t. They commented on a really old post about me mailing a bill late. Since the comment was geared towards quick trim users, it wasn’t even remotely related to my post. I just deleted it and kept moving.

It’s really funny how some of the spam comments almost get through. I just have to keep watching them and make sure I only approve real comments. No free back links for you Mr. Spammer Guy.

I need to stockpile some posts

There are days like today when I really don’t have anything to say. I mean I do but I can’t always put it into words. That’s why I generally stockpile at least 3 or 4 posts for emergencies. That way all I have to do is edit the post to make it current and hit publish. I can write about anything from tv stands to Tiger Woods and his latest drama. But today I’ve hit a wall.

I should be back to normal tomorrow. I guess all of those days off last week knocked me off of my game.
