Getting all dolled up

I have been anxiously awaiting an upcoming concert for a long time. Now that it’s finally here, I’m running around town trying to get everything that I need. I have an appointment to get my makeup done professionally on Friday. I was going to get fake lashes but I found some of the best eyelash growth product on the market and it looks good on me. It really compliments my eyes so there’s no need for more lashes.

I almost have my outfit ready but I need a cute coat now. I am not buying it though. I have a few friends that have really cute dressy coats and I’ll borrow one to make my outfit complete. I already talked about spending to much money last week so I really can’t justify buying a new coat. Besides, since I’m getting totally dolled up, I’m wearing a all leather coat with a fox fur trim. There is no way I could ever afford that right now.

I can’t wait for this work week to end. I’m going to have a ball this weekend.

I go through head phones like crazy

It seems like at least once or twice per year I need a new pair of headphones. It’s never the Ipod, Zune or radio that I listen too but always the headphones. I think I probably wind them too tight because they always just seem to short in one ear. It gets kind of annoying to play with the cord until I can get to the store and buy a new pair.

I just changed two pairs of headphones so I should be good for a while. When I go shopping next payday I have 2 pairs on my list. I generally always try to keep one pair but since I’ll have a little extra cash I’ll just get two.

With my luck I’ll end up needing at least one more pair by the end of the year anyway.

What’s with all of the Zune comments?

I get a lot of spam comments on all of my blogs. One thing I’ve noticed lately is that I’ve been getting a lot of comments comparing the Zune to other media players (even ipods). I know spammers just randomly place comments but there are tons of them. I have almost 5 of them every day.

There are some comments that seems to come all of the time. I just don’t get what the big deal is with the zune comments. It just seems to be a very active spammer.

I need another pair of headphones

Seriously, I go through about 4 pairs of headphones every year. I don’t know what I do to them but I keep short them out. The worse part is that it’s usually only in 1 ear. I can hear fine out of the right side, but the left side is totally silent. Of course, they didn’t short out on my way home, it had to happen on my way to work this morning. That means no music on the way to and from work. I also won’t be able to listen to anything all day while I’m at work.

I guess that’s just another thing to add to the shopping list for this weekend. While I’m buying slimming body wraps and other personal effects, I may as well grab a few pair of headphones. I’ve already gone through 2 pairs this year so hopefully another 3 pairs will last me for a while.

At least I hope so because this is starting to get expensive.

I’m going crazy with no good music

We only have 1 real radio station in town and it’s just ok. They play Pop and Top 40 but it’s the same songs in rotation every hour which really stinks. They will ocassionally sneak in a Hip-Hop or R&B song on you but that’s about it. We do have 1 other station but their selection is even worse. Nothing but Top 40 with a hour long rotation.

At work we can’t stream music anymore so you’re pretty much at the mercy of the radio. I really need to add some music to my mp3 player because radio stinks.

Summer concert season is already here

Wow I’m really surprised. I know that some concerts generally sell out but in the past week, 2 different summer concerts have gone on sale. One concert is scheduled for mid-July and the other is early August. I love summer so it’s not a problem for me and it gives me something to look forward to. It’s just not something I had expected to start seeing yet. I wouldn’t think summer tickets would go on sale before early April but it looks like I’m way off.

Not that I mind. The sooner summer gets here the better for me.

I need to buy a I-Tunes card

There are about 30 or so songs that I want to add to my mp3 player. Most of the music I was able to rip off of cds or I had the music on my old computer. Most of the new songs that I want, I don’t have at all. I even looked on all of these old mix tapes that I have and they’re not on there either.

Hopefully I’ll be able to find all of the songs that I want.

It feels good to hear regular music on the radio

I turned on the radio this morning and I was so happy to hear regular music again. Two of our local stations went to an all Christmas format and it was getting to be a bit much. One station started the beginning of November and the other station started the day after Thanksgiving. One is a oldies station and the other is a 80’s 90’s and today’s music station.

Considering the fact that there is no R&B station locally and it can be a real drag. There are only 3 good stations and 3 mediocre ones. Then subtract 2 of the mediocre ones and it’s slim pickings in these parts. The most exciting thing on the radio some days was a advertisement for Toto toilets. You know it’s bad when the best thing on the radio is the commercials.

Now if we could only get a R&B station, everything would be perfect.

WAMO 106.7 Officially off the air

Back in May Sheridan Broadcasting sold their urban radio station to a Christian broadcasting station. Sheridan cited a changing market as reason for the sale. According to Sheridan, there is a new people meter that measures ratings. In markets where the new system has taken place, Black and Hispanic ratings have gone down 40%. Some say the reason is because the meters aren’t evenly distributed to minorities skewing results. Read the article: here

According to Wikipedia:                                                                                                               “As of 6:07PM EST, Tuesday, September 8, 2009, WAMO-FM 106.7 discontinued broadcasting. Its last song was Boyz II Men’s ‘It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye To Yesterday’, and then silence.”

Just sad!

RIP Michael Jackson

I was getting ready to do my regular blogging yesterday when I heard the news. To say I was in shock is pretty much an understatement. I grew up on Michael Jackson and I cried when he got burned doing the Pepsi commercial. All I did last night was watch news coverage in disbelief.

The music world has really lost a legend.
