I can’t wait to start my vacation

I have so much that I’m trying to do with very little income to support it. So I’m basically working miracles with my paycheck. Then I thought the program I wanted to use for a mortgage was gone but once I really did my research I saw that it’s still around. Add to that the fact that I need to pay some debt down over and above my regular payments. I have no idea where that money is coming from.

Next week is my vacation and I can’t wait. I’m not going to think about any of this stuff while I’m off. I’m just going to sit around, watch tv and eat junk food for a week. I’ll probably get some dead sea bath salt and relax in the tub with a couple of soothing baths to melt the stress away. I also plan on unplugging the phone so I don’t have to deal with any annoyances.

I can not wait for this week to be over.

Tonight is my last class

For the home buyers class that my coworker and I are taking. We “graduate” tonight. It’s been an interesting 4 part series and I’m wondering what they’ll talk about this evening. I do know that if we use the connections through our employer we get some closing cost assistance which I’m sure will be a big help.

Tonight’s class will focus on the settlement process. At least the classes are interesting and they don’t make you want to fall asleep. I guess the excitement of buying a home and learning as much about the process as I can is a powerful motivator.

Shopping around to save money

I know this isn’t my personal finance blog but it’s a good topic. I decided that I wanted to cut some of my expenses and increase the amount in my savings. I looked at my budget to see what could be cut or scaled back. I don’t have bcbsnc insurance so I can’t cut that. I was able to cut my phone bill by a few dollars. My biggest savings was from downgrading my cable package. I have a bunch of channels that I never watch so it just made sense to dump them.

Now it’s just a matter of actually saving the extra money.

Bringing in some extra cash

I’m way behind on my savings goals. I spent most of my cash this year paying for school. Doing that caused me to dip into my savings account as well as use my regular paycheck money. Now I’m trying to think of ways to bring some extra money in. With 1 or 2 classes in the spring, a second job is almost out of the picture. I’m thinking about starting another home based business but I haven’t decided what I want to do yet. I don’t want to open another store because I don’t want to have to worry about inventory.

If I would get my writing together, I could probably do that free-lance. Now I just need to get motivated and start writing.

Do you make New Year’s resolutions?

It’s getting close to that time again. Time for New Year’s resolutions. What about you, do make any? Do you keep them? I try to make some every year. I don’t always keep them though. One of my resolutions was to lose weight this year. I did lose some weight but not as much as I wanted to. I didn’t even have to take any pills or Miracle burn to do it. It was just exercise incorporated into my daily routine.

I also always make a resolution regarding my finances. It’s usually to save a certain amount. In 2007 it was $500. I did save that amount but I have to spend it for school since I blew one of my other resolutions. That’s was to get a B in every class. I didn’t get a very good grade in my class so I have to pay for school with no reimbursement. I didn’t add as much stock to my account as I wanted either. I did buy some more bonds but I miscalculated how much I had so I don’t know if I really met that goal either.

Geeze now that I’m reading through this, I’m getting depressed. It seems like I didn’t meet any of my goals. I guess I need to think of 5 good ones for 2008.
