Insane Random Ramblings

When I got done with school I was extremely happy and never thought I would step foot in a classroom ever again. Now I’m thinking about going back to school for a Master’s Degree program. I’m undecided if I want a it degree or something in the fraud and accounting field. Both are growing and in demand. Neither are boring and would keep me challenged and on my toes.

Unfortunately my tuition reimbursement only covers about half with me covering the rest out of pocket. I don’t have a bunch of cash just lying around so I’m looking for scholarships and grants to help cut those costs. If I were a traditional student there would be more money for me but since I’m older and have been out of school for a while there’s not as much. They also say I make “too much” money which is a total joke. In order to get financial aid, I would basically have to be living in a box under a bridge somewhere.

Hopefully I’ll find something somewhere.

I talked to my friend last night and she’s finally going back to school. All I can say is it’s about time! We’ve been trying to convince her to go back to school for several years but she’s always come up with an excuse or treated something like it was more important than school. She finally saw the light that she’s not going to get anywhere at her job without getting some kind of degree. And it’s not like she makes a lot of money so she really needs to finish school.

Now we have to help her get through it. I’m just glad that I’m done with school right now because I couldn’t do my work and help her with hers too.

I’m really not sure. I do want to stay in the same industry but I want to go in another direction. I want to become an analyst for my company. It seems like you need an advanced degree to get into those positions. I’ve considered several schools and programs. One that I’m considering is a Masters in organizational development from Gonzaga online.

The program information looks informative and very promising. One of the career tracts that the degree can lead to is a Management Analyst, which is right up my alley. If I don’t want to become an analyst, this can also lead to a consulting position. I can also look into a getting a Masters in Organizational Leadership instead. The leadership tract opens up many more career choices. It also teaches you how to influence others while achieving the goals of your company. This is one skill that I am definitely lacking in. I usually have good ideas but I’m unable to take the leadership of the idea and articulate those ideas.

It’s a hard decision because I have to devote both the time and the money to going back to school. But I think it will be worth it in the end. I just have to make sure I make the right choice for me and my career goals.

Hmm, this should be interesting. One of my cousins who is leaving for college wants me to mentor her. She will be the second person in the family to go to college but her major is pre-med so it’s much more stressful and expensive than my major.

I just hope she hasn’t already gotten a bunch of bogus advice.

I thought I got a C+ in my theory class. But when I logged in to see my grade, I found out that I had received a B-. I think they messed up my GPA though. I don’t think they took off the grade from the semester that I got a G grade. After one semester it automatically turns into a F. That grade should have been surpressed.

In any event it really doesn’t matter anymore. I’m so happy I passed this class I could do a dance.

I know my professors have until Thursday to turn our grades in. I was hoping that the grades would come in early. I’m sitting here on pins and needles waiting for my grades to show up. My literature class didn’t even have a final so all he had to do was grade our final paper and our grades would be done. I took my theory class early hoping she would grade it but I knew she would wait until she had all of the papers graded before she posted them.

I just wish they would hurry up. I’m going crazy over here.

It’s finals time and I have to decide when to take my exam. I only have an exam in my sociology class. My literature class had a mid-term but no final, which is fine by me. My theory class holds exams in the testing center not in class. So it’s really up to me which day I want to go and take the exam.

As long as I get it in by Friday I should be fine.

Now I just have to figure out when I want to take my final exam for my theory class. It’s the hardest class I’ve ever had and I really want to do well on the final. I want to make sure that I’m really ready for the exam before I try to take it. That means little to no computer time. I can’t afford to sit and play on the computer looking for things like a outdoor lighting sale, shoes or anything else that I may be able to find. It also means no email and no blogging. At least for a few days anyway.

At least I’ll still be able to get on the internet at work. I know you didn’t think I was giving it up cold turkey. Perish the thought!

I decided not to wait until the last minute to take my exam. I reviewed the information that I needed and took the exam on Saturday. It was so hard that it wasn’t even funny. The professor used 2 of the concepts that I knew pretty well. Problem was I had to answer 3. I know I missed points on that part of the exam.

The essay question though? It was crazy hard. In class she gave us several questions and then said “Oops, I just gave away a essay question”. Two of those questions were definitely not on the exam. I was pretty ticked but not as much as my classmates that actually prepared those questions. I figured the exam would be hard so I didn’t even try to prepare the essay beforehand.

If I get a C on this exam I’ll be extremely happy.

I really don’t. I just want to lay back on one of those really comfy discount recliners and take a nap. However, my 2nd exam starts tomorrow so I really can’t afford to miss tonights class. I can take my exam anytime between tomorrow and Tuesday. I plan on writing out my notes on Friday after work. Then taking the exam on Saturday.

Hopefully I can rest all day on Sunday. I really just need one day to lay back and relax.
