Insane Random Ramblings

Which is ironic. I have to run to get running shoes! Anyway, the company shipped them UPS.

I get home at 7:30pm so I generally miss the delivery. If there is no one there to sign for the package, I have to run over to the service center to pick it up. They close at 8pm so I have to leave work a little earlier than usual today to be able to make it on time. Last week I got there at 8:05pm and the lights were out and everyone was gone. I don’t blame them though because once my day is done, I’m out.

I do need to pick up some mailing supplies like stamps, tyvek envelopes, and boxes for my Ebay adventures. However, I always have trouble with UPS so I’m opposed to spending any more money in there than I have to. There’s always somewhere else to shop. Believe me I know!

Or shoes it doesn’t matter to me. I went to buy a pair of black boots but they didn’t have the ones I liked in my size so I bought a really light colored pair. They’re made to be worn in the rain or snow but they’ll get dirty really fast so I don’t plan on wearing them often. With the wet weather we’ve been having lately, I can already tell I won’t be wearing them much.

I could just nix the whole boot idea and get a new pair of tennis shoes. I saw a really cute pair of reebok pumps tennis shoes that would match perfectly with a few different tops that I already own. The shoes are all white but most of my clothes are blue or grey because they’re my favorite colors.

Of course there is always the option to buy both. Off to shop I go.

But I’m still not ready to face it. When I walked outside this morning, it was cold and kinda wet. By the time my bus got downtown, it had started snowing and sleeting. I didn’t want to put up my umbrella so I threw my hood on. When I walked into work my coat was wet all over and the ends of my hair that were sticking out were also wet.

I go through this every year and you would think I would be used to it by now. I just need to throw on my northface fleece and some warm boots and call it a day. Instead I insist on wearing short sleeves and flat shoes. I was supposed to go shopping this weekend but with the after Christmas crowds I decided to wait.

One day I’ll get used to the cold weather, or just pack up and move to Arizona. You really have no idea how good that sounds right about now.

I was so tired by the time that I got home that I really didn’t want to surf the internet. I basically visited a few of the sites that I visit every day and then I logged off of the computer. I wanted to look for a few other things too. I saw a pair of boots but I know I can find them for a lower price even without it being a holiday. I wasn’t looking for briefcases for men but I did see a new purse that I want to buy for myself for $80. There is also a matching wallet but that costs more than the purse so I won’t be getting that.

I didn’t get the pants that I wanted to buy though. I do know that they were on sale but I’m pretty sure I can find them at that price any time of the year. Maybe I’ll buy them next week.

Where people just lose their minds shopping. If you’re like me and hate the whole Black Friday crowd thing, you just wait until today to shop online. Usually you can get great deals in the comfort of your own home, or office as it were. Sometimes it’s shipping deals, sometimes it’s discounts and if you’re lucky you can get both.

There’s a catalog company that I shop from that has the exact pants I want. They’re not in my preferred color but they’re my size and in a tall length, which is hard to find in regular stores. They’re normally $40 but $35 each if you buy 2 pairs. With the discount today, 2 pairs will be $52.50 plus $4.99 shipping for a total of $57.49 which is a good deal in my opinion. Especially since I can’t find these pants in B&M stores.

I had better balance my checkbook and see exactly how much money I have to shop with.

I’m spending money like crazy lately. It’s mostly stuff that I need though. But notice that I said “mostly”. Right now I’m looking for shoes and boots because I need them both. But I also want a necklace or a bracelet that I shouldn’t buy. It’s not coming out of “my” money because I had a great week at the casino. That also doesn’t mean that I should drop money on something that I hadn’t saved for.

I am buying myself a gift for Christmas and I’m halfway there as far as savings. I could just take the money that I had planned on saving and buying the gift now. It feels good to have a little extra money to be able to have this dilemma.

I used to love internet shopping. I shopped mostly through catalogs but I purchased the items over the internet instead of by phone. I just hated talking to people and it’s a lot easier to add or unload stuff from your cart online. There also used to be a lot of stuff in the catalogs that you couldn’t find in regular stores. Either the item wouldn’t be sold locally or it would sell out quickly but the catalogs almost always still had the item.

I recently looked at one the the catalogs that used to be my favorite and the items were ridiculously high. They were the same price as going to the mall and on top of that you had to pay shipping and handling. Once I added everything up, I realized that it’s just cheaper for me to shop locally. I can pop in and out of stores and shop at my leisure to find good prices.

It looks like catalog shopping is out for me.

The light bulb in my bedroom finally went out. It usually only goes out about once per year so I don’t have to change it often. This past weekend, I hopped up on the bed to change the light and my feet started to sink into the mattress. I also heard sounds like the mattress was creaking and popping. It just sounded bad.

I had planned on buying a new bedroom set when I moved but now I don’t know if I can hold off. I would prefer to wait so I can have more cash saved up and pay a lot of the expense right then and there. I do plan on getting a finance same as cash type of deal from the furniture store but I want to have some cash on hand.

Hopefully the mattress will hold out until at least next Spring.

That’s a really odd thing to add to your shopping list right? But last week I wore my sneakers to work as usual and I wanted to wear a pair of wedge heeled shoes that I keep underneath my desk. Which was fine until I remembered that I had worn regular athletic type white Nike socks. When I walked you could tell I didn’t have on dress socks.

In the summer I don’t worry about it. I wear my ballerina type shoes and my slip on flats with no socks at all. But with the wedge shoes I need dress socks. Unfortunately I only have 2 or 3 pairs of black socks. They’re not exactly high on my list of things to buy when I go shopping.

At least now they’re on my mind and I’ll make sure to pick up a pair or two when I go shopping again.

That is so not a good thing. I’m on the internet all the time and if my computer is not up to snuff, that means I have to look into replacing it. I’m saving to buy a house next year so now is not the time to randomly have to kick out several hundred dollars on a new computer. I have thought about getting one of the new tablet computers that are all the rage. They’re fairly inexpensive and I can take it wherever I go. That means I can play on the computer on the bus and during my lunch break.

Now I just have to hope I can find one at a decent price.
