My cousins team lost

Boooo for losing on his birthday!!! But I saw the pictures he took with his friend and they had a great time at the game. They did a little tailgating before the game and had a few beers during the game. Afterward the game they went out for dinner. Since they still had their game gear on, they opted for something really casual.

All in all he had a really good time even if his team did lose. I’m just glad he enjoyed his birthday.

No more free baseball preview

The free baseball preview is over already. I write a post about it every year. It irritates me to no end because most teams only play 5 normally scheduled games during the first week of the season. Most of the time, they play one or two day games and then a Fox or ESPN national game. It doesn’t hurt that I like one of the most popular teams around so I can almost always catch their games.

I’m really tempted to shell out the money for the subscription package. Then my better judgement takes over and I wonder what I was thinking. Oh well, there’s always the 2 or 3 days after the All Star Break to look forward to.

I didn’t watch any baseball last night

There were several games on but the game I really wanted to see came on at 1pm so I totally missed it. I don’t even know if the Giants got their high school rings, World Series rings or whatever they may get. I don’t like their team so it wasn’t important to me.

Hopefully there will be some good baseball games on starting this weekend. This is my favorite time of the year but I get pretty antsy when I can’t be home to watch the games. Fortunately baseball runs for the next 6 months so I’ll more than get my fill of games in the coming weeks and months.

I’m gonna miss opening day

Frowny face!!! The Yankees play at 1pm and I’ll still be at work. Technically I’ll be at lunch when the game starts but whatever. Then there’s a 4pm game, which I’ll miss a part of because I leave work at 4:30pm and I don’t get home until 5:30pm. Then there’s a 8pm game but it’s the Giants and Dodgers. I don’t care about either of those teams so I could care less about that game.

It just sucks that I couldn’t get the day off.

Baseball season is so close yet so far

This is one of the worse parts of the year for me as far as sports goes. Football season has ended but baseball season hasn’t begun yet. Meanwhile I don’t like hockey and I’m not really a fan of basketball. It seems like it will be forever before baseball starts but it’s really a couple of weeks. The players have already started spring training and opening day is fast approaching.

I’m getting really anxious though.

People still stand in line for tickets?

My cousin is a baseball fan like me but we live in different cities and root for different teams. Although his hometown team is the Phillies (who I love), I also root for the Yankees (who he hates) and the Pirates. Anyway there’s a game on his birthday and that was the present that he wanted to give himself this year.

When tickets first went on sale, they were for select games including opening day and a few other games. When tickets went on sale for all games a couple of weeks ago, he went online and got the tickets that he really wanted. He had to pass by CBP (Citizens Bank Park) on his way to work and saw a line of people out there waiting to get tickets. If they wanted a really hot game, those seats would have been sold out before they got to the front of the line.

I’m still pretty amazed that in this day and age, people still stand outside and wait in line.

I only need around $4900

For a trip to the Super Bowl. Ughhhh I knew that it was expensive but I didn’t know how expensive it could be. The fact that it’s clear across the country in Dallas is one factor. The other is just that the Super Bowl is expensive as all get out. If you can get a ticket for the game at face value you’re looking at over $700 per ticket. And you have to get those early in the year and that’s the luck of the draw.

I would love to go to at least one Super Bowl during my lifetime. It would help if I could just win a trip. That would take care of everything.

That game was stressful

Man what a great game!! But it was super stressful at times. The game started out great with the Steelers rolling for 24 points in the first half. But I guess the team got a little too laid back in the 2nd half and the Jets came out guns blazing! I felt like I would need a point of care cart because my heart was beating so fast. The final score was Steelers 24 and the Jets 19 but it was really close.

Now it’s on to Dallas and Super Bowl 45. I’ve never been to a Super Bowl and I would love to go but I know it’s not a economic reality. That’s what I need to start saving my money for because I want to go to a Super Bowl within the next couple of years.

I keep missing my favorite shows

And it’s all because of the baseball playoffs. Last week there were two games on until Wednesday so I missed both of my favorite shows. Luckily I am able to catch them on cable at any time but now I have 2 episodes to watch before I can watch the newest shows. I haven’t missed the commercials though. I think I’ve seen everyone out there right now. There is none for The best diet pill on the market right now but I have caught a few good ones.

I guess I shouldn’t complain about the playoffs too much. Once there over in another couple of weeks, there won’t be any more games until April. And that’s a long time away.

My holiday went too fast

I can’t believe another holiday has come and gone. Yesterday was a holiday and I feel like I totally missed it. I didn’t even get to do anything fun. I should have been kicking back puffing on a couple of cigars and just relaxing. I did get to watch some sports yesterday though. There was one baseball game and Monday Night Football on last night. Of course they were on at the same time so I had to keep switching back and forth between games.

On the positive side, at least this is only a 4 day work week. Hey I have to find the small victories wherever I can.
