My Insane Random Ramblings

Just a bunch of random thoughts today:

  •  My niece’s birthday is coming up and I have no idea what to get her.
  • I’m hoping for an invite to visit some relatives in Florida. That way I can take my niece and visit my other relatives at the same time.
  • I’m kinda irked that the Mav’s lost last night. I so do not want to see the Heat win a championship.
  • Why did I just decide that Dirk is a hottie.
  • I think it’s the hair.
  • The Pirates got shellacked yesterday. They had beat the Phillies by a large margin in the previous two games but yesterday was a hot mess.
  • Their record isn’t too bad this year.
  • Maybe this is the year they break the .500 mark.

That’s all.

It’s time to renew my passport

I don’t have any trips planned anytime soon but you should always have an active passport. One reason is that if a trip did suddenly come up, the last thing I want to do is have to kick out the money for the passport. I’m sure that I would have other things that I would need to attend to first.

I’ll probably wait until August before I start the process though. That way I can take a colonix in addition to my eating plan so I can drop a few pounds. I don’t think I’ll lose that much in a short time frame but I do want to lose enough so that my face is smaller.

And we all know that the passport is all about the picture.

I was disappointed with a travel suggestion from a large website

First let me say that I love Canada, especially Toronto. Niagara Falls isn’t bad and there are some really nice small towns as well. So when I saw a Frommer’s guide to Canada for the whole year I was really excited although there were only 2 months that I was really interested in.

September is the Toronto Film Festival which I fully expected to be on the list. There are lots of films being shown. Some of them are part of franchises but there are a lot of independent films being shown as well. Of course there are the movie stars and A-list parties that are normal for that time of the year which also adds to the excitement of the festival.

But August really surprised me. The guide suggested some sort of fishing trip which is really popular in Canada, no biggie. Except the first weekend in August is Caribana, which celebrates Caribbean history from all of the islands. It’s the largest festival of it’s kind in North America and extremely popular. Even non-Caribbean Canadians look forward to that weekend. There are parades, parties, and lots of vendors with awesome food.

I was just surprised that they didn’t even mention it as something big that’s happening. Especially since it’s so popular.

I may be able to sneak in a weekend trip

I am so excited and I’m not even sure if it will be a reality yet. I haven’t had a “real” vacation in almost 4  years and I’m itching to go somewhere. I want a beach vacation but since I don’t have anyone to go with, I’ll be flying solo.

I’m trying to go somewhere I’ve never been before and I want to capture the entire thing. I’ve already started looking at camcorder reviews to try to find just the right camera. Since I don’t anticipate going back I want to make sure I have my memories.

Now I just have to make sure I can get a good deal so I can make this dream a reality.

I feel a trip to Vegas coming on

I haven’t been on vacation in almost 3 years and I’m just itching to get out of town. I had been in school for several years and wasn’t able to afford a vacation. Now that I’m done with school, I have a small amount of travel money available. If I combine that with some of the other money that I have in my checking account, I may be able to squeeze a weekend trip in.

Even if it’s only for a few days, there’s so much I can do in Vegas. Of course there’s the endless buffetts and shows to check out. I can shop, buy camacho triple maduro cigars, or do what countless other people come to do, gamble. I generally stay off strip so my hotel expense won’t be too great. I also buy package deals from the airlines because it’s generally cheaper than trying to by each individual component.

I just need to sit down and run some numbers to make sure it’s feasible.

I’m trying to swing a trip with my friends

One of my coworkers invites me to go on vacation every year. Each year there is either something going on in my life (like school) or I just don’t have the money. The trip for next year is to the Dominican Republic. That’s one of the places on my wish list so I really want to go.

My coworker has been at the gym like crazy trying to get “D.R. ready” as she calls it. I do work out but the weight is coming of super slow since I haven’t changed my eating habits. If I do decide to go I’m getting lipo 6 hers to drop the pounds quick. That way I can lose a good 10 pounds fast. I’ll still continue to work out but I won’t be dropping any weight.

Now I just have to find a way to come up with the money to go.

I really wish I had some extra cash right now

Real estate prices are insanely low. I want to buy a townhouse style condo and while I’m planning on buying here in the city that I live in, I would love to actually buy something in Florida. I’ve wanted to move to Florida for a long time and now would be a great time to make the move. I would go to a miami car rental place, grab a car and go cruising around to check out a few neighborhoods. While Miami is nice, there are a few sketchy areas that I would have to weed out and the best way to do that is to drive around see everything for yourself.

Miami is on my short list of places that I would really love to go to. Jacksonville and the Orlando area are also high up there. Did I mention that I really wish I had some cash right now. Real estate prices are insanely low and I could score a great deal right now. Unfortunately by the time I get my act together, the real estate market will be rebounding and I won’t be able to score a deal like I could right now.

Just another reason why I’m focusing on plumping up my savings acccount.

I’m trying to come up with a plan

And it’s not working at all. I really want to go on vacation for my birthday. None of my “friends” want to go. Either they have kids and can’t go or they’ve already gone. Most of them go to places I don’t want to see or they only stay 3 or 4 days which is not really worth it in my opinion. So I’m trying to plan a solo trip but it is super expensive.

I just don’t have that kind of cash. I don’t know what I’m going to do yet because I really want to go away. I still have at least 2 weeks before I have to make a firm decision. I’ll use that time to try and pull a rabbit out of a hat.

I’m planning a baseball road trip

Unfortunately it won’t be this year. I plan on going next spring/summer. The 2011 schedule will be out in September so I can start making plans. My first thought is to hit Detroit and Chicago on a little weekend trip. I can see the Tigers, Cubs and White Sox if I play my cards right.

I would totally love to go this year but I just can’t afford it. I won’t even take a regular vacation this year so a baseball trip would be a total splurge. I can’t even afford to get the best weight loss pills that I saw. So unless some money just falls out of the sky, I won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

I don’t even know what I’m hoping for more, money for a road trip or a regular vacation. At this point I would just like to get my hands on some extra money and have that problem to solve.

I found a great deal on airfare

Unfortunately I can’t take advantage of it. I just realized that my car inspection is due right now. I’ll clean out my bank account paying for the work that needs to be done on my car. In addition to the inspection and emissions tests that I need, I also need brakes on my car.

I’m sure that will set me back a pretty penny. So a short trip is out of the question right now. Especially since I still need to look into getting something like CLA to help me lose a few pounds. The last thing I need is to try to get on the plane and be told that I have to buy two seats. It sounds like a joke but it’s really happened to people.

That would be a horrible way to start or end a vacation.
