Insane Random Ramblings

Because everything on tv just plain stinks. I mean there are shows that I really like and shows that I won’t make it a point to watch but will watch the repeats or summer reruns. But I’ve been looking at the previews for the new fall lineup and I just shake my head.

One show is about 2 girls that work in a restaurant. I don’t see what’s supposed to be so exciting about that show because the previews look boring. Then there’s the revamp of Charlie’s Angels which looks super lame. 3 no name actresses are supposed to pull this off? Maybe that show will suprise and be really good. Last but certainly not least is Pan Am.

Great a show about air waitresses with a airline that went out of business over 20 years ago. I guess they want to harken back to the heydey when air travel was fun and the stewardesses were hot. Great job perpetuating the myth that all women are good for is being a waitress and eye candy, while looking desperately for a husband. I participate in a frequent traveler board and you always hear the old timers lament how the attendants looked back then. So I guess it’s just some old guy living out his fantasy writing this stuff.

I need to get busy writing because if these people can get ideas greenlit anybody can.

My apartment management recently voted to upgrade our cable service. Unfortunately, when they tried to wire my apartment something went wrong and they cut into something that they shouldn’t have. Now they need to rewire my apartment. I told them to make sure they used cable management screws so that they could run the cable the same way it was before.

It’s weird because my cable is run through my living room coat closet so it makes it difficult to run throughout the apartment. I had to get a special exemption to have my cable set up just right and I want to make sure they do the exact same thing this time.

As long as it gets done today and they don’t bother me tomorrow I’ll be pretty happy.

I was pretty bored so I started watching tv. There is absolutely nothing on so I have to watch a bunch of repeats. I turned on one station and they were showing really old shows. I know most of them are from the 60’s and 70’s but that seems like a lifetime ago. So that makes these shows look extremely ancient.

I much prefer the shows of today with their action and adventure. They also have up to date weaponry like tactical rifle scopes and glock hand guns. It looks so much more realistic than those little pistols that can only shoot 5 inches from where the shooter is.

Besides, most of these shows don’t even seem to have a plot line.

I was shocked when I heard the news. The last time they threatened to take off the show, Congressmen and the viewing public stepped up and created a ruckus. So much so that the powers that be decided to keep the show on. I’m hoping that’s what happens this time.

I do understand that Fox isn’t making any money on the show but c’mon. They want to cancel AMW and replace it with reruns of shows that are currently showing. Really?!?!?! Who wants to see reruns of Lie to Me or any of the others shows that they have on? I don’t even watch Fox except for AMW and baseball games.

It’s a sad day for television but at least the criminals are happy with this decision. Spot on Fox…you sucktastic station you.

Awesome!!!! It’s called “The Rise of Sam Axe” so it should be pretty good. It’s pretty cool that it’s has really taken off. I remember when I first heard about the show, I had to write a little story about what the show would be like. My story was stupid as heck but I was excited about the premise of the new program. Needless to say it exceeded all of my expectations and quickly became my favorite show. I even got my mom hooked on it.

Hopefully that also means that the summer season will be starting soon.

I love A&E. I love almost all of the original programs that they show in addition to shows like Criminal Minds that are in syndication. Right now the newest program is Scared Straight where they take juvenile offenders who are going down the wrong path and put them in a real prison for a day. They talk to the prisoners, get lectured by “mentors” and see what the living quarters are like. But the really scary part is when the prisoners introduce the kids to the unpleasant parts of prison life. They scream at those kids and threaten them just like they’re really inmates.

On the first show that I watched most of the female inmates looked like dudes. They kept telling the young girls that they were gonna “make them their bitches” if they got put in the cells with them. One of the inmates also took one of the girls’ “prison number”. When the group asked her where it was and she told them, they told her that she had just broke the “no snitching” rule and would have been dealt with if she were a real prisoner.

Man, I’ve never done anything that would have gotten me put in prison but I got scared straight sitting on my living room couch!

And it’s all because of the baseball playoffs. Last week there were two games on until Wednesday so I missed both of my favorite shows. Luckily I am able to catch them on cable at any time but now I have 2 episodes to watch before I can watch the newest shows. I haven’t missed the commercials though. I think I’ve seen everyone out there right now. There is none for The best diet pill on the market right now but I have caught a few good ones.

I guess I shouldn’t complain about the playoffs too much. Once there over in another couple of weeks, there won’t be any more games until April. And that’s a long time away.

I’ve been watching House Hunters a lot lately. Part of the reason is because I’m looking to buy my own house soon. I also just like the concept of watching what other people look for in a home. The international edition is cool too. You get to really see what how other countries live once you get past the tourist traps. Some of the places look sketchy but once you see the inside of the houses, you just fall in love with the style.

My favorite show has to be Get It Sold. I absolutely love that show. To watch Sabrina make a few small changes and turn a room completely around is amazing. I watched her change a couch, add contemporary coffee tables and put a piece of art on the wall and the room looked totally different. The funny thing is that she used poster board to make the art but it looked like she bought it that way.

Once I finally make the move into my own house, I’m defintely going to look to these shows for decorating ideas.

On Saturday there’s a game on Fox. Then on Sunday there’s a game on TBS. They’re usually national games and when it gets close to the playoffs, they’re the playoff race games. Anyway what I noticed is that whatever 2 teams come on Fox on Saturday are the same 2 teams that you see on Sunday on TBS.

Now watch the teams and games will change now that I mentioned this.

I’ve finally started a exercise regiment. It’s only 4 days a week right now but I decided that if I start with something reasonable I’m more likely to stick to it. I know that I need new exercise dvds but I love to watch the programs On Demand. First of all, they’re free and there’s nothing better than that. I also don’t have to worry about energy auditing my house because all it costs me is the energy to run the television which I would have been doing anyway.

Imagine my surprise when I went to watch my favorite program and it was gone! They usually run them for 3 months at a time then replace them within 2 weeks with another program. It was unexpected to say the least. I was all ready to get started and that put a serious crimp in my plans.

Luckily I do have one dvd that’s my old standby that I was able to pull out and get my workout in. I don’t need any distractions cause it’s hard enough to stay motivated as it is.
